Paqueta-Milan, transfer postponed to June?
AC Milan have secured the services of Lucas Paqueta for 35 million euros from Flamengo but the transfer may be postponed for June.
For a few weeks, AC Milan and its fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Leonardo’s latest signing. Lucas Paqueta, the talented 21 year old star of Flamengo, chose to play for the Rossoneri, rejected offers from much richer clubs. Considering the long tradition of Brazilian greats at San Siro, Paqueta-Milan looks like the perfect combination.
The attacking midfielder is expected to land in Europe at the dawn of the new solar year. A great purchase if you think that in the footsteps of the young Brazilian there were teams like PSG, Barcelona and Manchester United. But in the last hours rumors have emerged about a change of program that would not compromise the success of the operation.
AC Milan, as explained, have assured the future performances of Paqueta, with the projected role of playmaker, able to play even as central midfielder or on the left wing. But the urgent needs of the Rossoneri seem to be of another nature. The injuries of Lucas Biglia and Musacchio have redirected the Milan leadership towards a couple of signings, in defense and midfield departments (for the last negotiations CLICK HERE).
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, the director of the technical area Leonardo would be thinking of postponing the arrival of Paqueta. Initially scheduled for early January the transfer could take place next summer reports CorSport. The Brazilian could disembark at Milanello in June 2019, a useful move not to fill one of the available non EU players slot.
Leonardo and club would like to act with greater freedom next January and in their notebook appear targets without a EU passport. For example the Argentine star Leandro Paredes of Zenit, considered a perfect substitute for Biglia, or the Ivorian defender Eric Bailly of Manchester United.
